Trump Turnberry Resort

On Scotland's spectacular Ayrshire coast there lies a piece of veritable golfing history. As host to the Open on four separate occasions, in 1977, 1986, 1994 and 2009, the Turnberry has become an iconic destination for golf-lovers around the globe. Designed in 1906 by Frank Miller, one of Scotland's great architects, the hotel retains the charm of its Edwardian roots, but has been thoroughly enhanced and updated, undergoing its last major refurbishment prior to the 2009 Open. Rooms overlooking the ocean are the pick of the bunch, providing views of the championship links course and the enchanting sparkle of the slate-blue Irish Sea. The hotel also has four signature suites on offer, each named after one of its Open winners; the Watson, Norman, Price and Cink. If you prefer standalone accommodation, eight-bedroom lodges and self-catering apartments are also available. Patrons of the Turnberry's 1906 restaurant will enjoy a first-class dining experience, while The Duel in the Sun provides a heartier alternative, serving a mixed grill including the ever popular surf n' turf. The hotel also has its own pool and spa facilities, but arguably the best way to unwind is by taking a leisurely walk past the picturesque Turnberry lighthouse, followed by a single malt nightcap in the hotel bar.

Amazing view from the Grand Tea Lounge out across the Firth of Clyde towards Arran and Ailsa Craig. Although recently fully refurbished it still retains an old fashioned style elegance. Staff are very helpful and friendly and the new Grand Ballroom is stunning. Afternoon tea was exquisite....
